Good morning!
How is your holiday season going? I HAVE ALL MY HOLIDAY SHOPPING COMPLETE. The final gift was for my 10th grade journalism teacher, the former Ms. Matsukado. I hadn't heard from her for a while, so I was a little bit worried. But then she popped up in my in box, and all's right with the world.
Anyway, that's my good news. What's yours?
Oh. More good news!
Fatal Shadows: The Collector's Edition goes live everywhere today
For some reason Amazon can't seem to figure out that this is a different edition from the original, so it's linked it with the original (wrong) paperback and the (wrong) audio, although the hardcover is correct. I was hoping that they'd sort it out by the time it went live, but nope.
Anyway, if you want the final Adrien English short story it is EXCLUSIVELY in the Collector's Edition. :-D Along with all the interviews and codas and artwork and so forth.
Since I haven't done any giveaways in the calendar this year, I thought I'd gift five copies of the digital edition to youse guys. To be entered in the giveaway, share your favorite quote from any of the books in the AE series down below. Next week I'll randomly select five people from the comment section.
****OH! BOTH THE HARDCOVER AND SOFTCOVER ARE ON SALE ON AMAZON AGAIN!!!
Love you? Of course I love you. Baby, I fucking worship you. (The Dark Tide)
ReplyDeleteAh! One of the classics. ;-D

ReplyDelete“You were the first in every way that counted.”
― Josh Lanyon, The Dark Tide
That's a nice one.
DeleteUh, hey," I said. "It's Adrien. English."
ReplyDeleteThere was a pause and he said, "I haven't forgotten your voice. Let alone your last name."
Oh, how I love Pirate King.
Goge
Oh, I'd forgotten that line!
DeleteI've waited for it on Amazon but it shows that I've already bought the kindle copy a million years ago and doesn't show any other ebooks. So I bought one on Smashwords! I don't need a ebook copy anymore but I adore this series so I just share a few of my favorite quotes anyway. I often think of "You were the first in every way that counted." from the Dark Tide and "There isn't much I wouldn't do for you..." from the Pirate King. From the first one there's, of course, a classic "Cops before breakfast. Before coffee even. As if Mondays weren't bad enough." as well as all “Homosexuality just wasn’t what it used to be in the Golden Age of mystery writing.” Second has for me "He was sunburnt, wet, and smelled faintly of fish. Sexy as hell. Don’t ask me to explain." and “Kevin refilled my plastic cup with more box wine. I smiled thanks. Kevin smiled welcome. Jake kicked my ankle.” which always makes me giggle. Third is always hard for me to read but there was one funny moment with: “We’re watching you ” whispered the voice on the other end. “Yeah? Did you see what I did with my keys? ” Silence. Then dial tone. These younger demons. So easily discouraged.” There's also a lovely moment in Stranger Things Have Happened with “He won't feel a fraction of what I do for you. You won't change his life. And you will always wonder about what could have been, always feel that funny little ache right here." He puts his hand over your heart.”" And finally from So this is Christmas "The first rule of cohabitation is Thou Shalt Not Diss the Other Dude’s Kinfolk.". But I've always find something new when I re-read (re-listen) to the series.
ReplyDeleteHa! You've picked out a ton of my favorite lines. :-D
DeleteAlso, I've contacted Amazon. The editions are so tangled, it's even hard for me to figure out what's going on. It's crazy. They've got the audio edition linked to the Collector's Edition, so people think... UGH. It's crazy.
DeleteIt's very hard to choose with such a wonderful series. Thank you for writing it!
Delete“When your heart stopped on that fucking boat.” The sudden fierce glitter in his eyes had to be a trick of the light. “I begged then.” (The Dark Tide)
ReplyDeleteOh nice one!

ReplyDelete“I’ve always been grateful - even when I was married, even when I thought it was over between us - that it was you I fell in love with.” Love them so much!
ReplyDeleteWhoops! Accidentally posted my comment twice because I thought it didn’t work the first time
DeleteOh, y'all picked so many of my favorites! That author sure has a way with words!! 😆🥰
ReplyDeleteCan’t choose a favourite! All the words are so good - 🥰
ReplyDeleteQuestion - I'm confused - the digital version for kindle on Amazon now, isn't the Collector's addition?
ReplyDeleteIt looks like it's sorted out now! The edition with the cover art listed above is the correct edition. It's priced at $9.99. The original version is priced at $5.99. I *think* they've even sorted out the print versions now.
DeleteYes! Just doublechecked. The links in this post and on my website lead to the correct edition.
Delete"Cops before breakfast. Before coffee even. As if Monday's weren't bad enough."
ReplyDeleteAdrien had me at ;hello'!
LOL
DeleteYou were the first in every way that counted❤️
ReplyDelete“What the hell just happened?” I asked the universe. “You’re talking to yourself again,” the universe replied, pushing open my office door. Okay, it was Jake, but he was kind on my universe. ~ So This Is Christmas. This quote always makes me smile reading it.
ReplyDelete"Nothing about you could be ugly to me."
ReplyDeleteGoogle won’t let me sign in to comment but regardless-these are all my favorite quotes too and now I feel like I need to reread the series.
ReplyDeleteOooh, these are all good!
ReplyDeleteThis line has always stuck with me from Death of a Pirate King, when Jake and Adrien were back in each other's arms:
ReplyDelete"Horrifyingly, unbearably sweet - sweet in the way crack must feel hitting the bloodstream of an addict after years of staying clean."
I remember being in a bar and my friend mentioned the genre I read and write and a guy just heard "explicit" and wanted to hear a line I loved, so I said this one! And I don't think it's what he expected! lol. But it captures the scene so damn perfectly!
Hi!
ReplyDelete"Love you? Of course I love you. Baby, I fucking worship you."
and
"You were the first in every way that counted"
❤️
I tried to narrow this down to just one quote, but it can't be done. Ekaterina has the right idea'
ReplyDeleteI couldn't pick just one, so, here are three of my favorites, from Death of a Pirate King and And so This Is Christmas:
ReplyDelete"I've set myself up to go sailing with NAME REDACTED tomorrow. I'm pretty sure he's going to try to kill me."
There was a very long silence, and then Jake said, "He'll have to take a number."
**
I thought again how odd it was to be on formal terms with someone you had once permitted to lick your ears.
**
I hadn't exactly thought of what I did in terms of sports metaphors. If I had, it would have been something like men's singles tennis champ or extreme ping-pong player.
I personally love how your books have humor so that's what my favorite lines reflect. The top one is my ultimate favorite. I laugh hard every time I read it, and I've read it many times. The second one is because I love the Lisa character. This particular quote reminds me of a Christmas story, "you'll shoot your eye out." And the last one... there's so many good lines in "The Hell You Say" that is hard to pick one but I had to Snicker at this. Thank you for the Advent calendar every year. I'm coming in late this year because I've been frantically cleaning for the holidays. This is something I look forward to and really appreciate you taking the time to do.
ReplyDeleteThe Dark Tide:
“Oh my God,” Eve exclaimed. “Daddy was a Nazi war criminal, blah, blah, blah.”
Death of a Pirate King:
I croaked, “I think Em should have her own horse.” Lisa looked up from the magazine. For a moment she seemed to struggle for composure, then she said, “Oh, Adrien! She’ll just fall and break her neck.” She wiped hastily at her eyes.
The Hell You Say:
“Curses — I don’t mean cussing, I mean threats — I’ve heard a few of the phone calls. Alexander Graham Bell would not be happy.”
