Today we have a compilation of NINE vintage Christmas cartoons. That's over an hour of holly-jolly, so if you're about to dash out the door, you might want to save this one for this evening when you can settle down with a cup of cocoa or a Christmas cocktail and reeeeelaaaaax.
I mean, it's been over thirty years since the weekend was actually relevant to my work schedule, but still. Somehow the weekend still feels special. And Monday still feels nervewracking. Some habits never die, I guess.
Anyway, today we have another cartoon for you. Hector's Hectic Life is brought to you from post war 1948. It has a very different vibe from our two earlier offerings, I think. Marlowe and Spenser found it too too outre, but what do they know?
One of the challenges of putting together the Advent Calendar is finding new things every year for you to enjoy. The Office Elf scoured the interwebs this week for holiday cartoons we haven't shown before and we (she) actually did manage to find a couple!
So for your viewing pleasure--okay, well, maybe just your viewing amusement--we have 1933's The Shanty Where Santy Claus Lives. It's only slightly over seven minutes long, so just long enough to catch your breath and smile. ;-)
Oh! It's already the 11th???!! The month is flying past.
Is your holiday shopping done? MINE IS. I don't mean to gloat, but as of forty-five minutes ago, MINE IS.
This morning, we have another vintage cartoon. This one is 1935's The Cookie Carnival. Actually, maybe it's not specifically holiday related, but...gingerbread.
That gingerbread man has impeccable taste, I must say. Not exactly sure that relationship is destined for the long haul. THERE'S AN M/M ROMANCE IN HERE SOMEWHERE, MARK MY WORDS. ;-)
Today we have a little vintage holiday cartoon that I don't believe I've shared before. This is the 1940s horror classic (well, kinda!) The Snow Man. It's only about eight minutes long, so relax and enjoy before you get to work!
THAT WILL TEACH YOU MEDDLING KIDS TO BUILD SNOWMEN!!!
I can't remember if I shared this cartoon last year or not. It's about eight minutes of "The Night Before Christmas." I'm sure I saw this many times as a little kid because it's so familiar--starting with all those kids packed into that bed with the pink quilt. ;-)
Anyway, enjoy! Have a lovely weekend. May you get all your shopping done!
And appropriately enough, today's offering is the classic Silly Symphony cartoon "The Night Before Christmas". I remember seeing this as a little kid on TV. It's delightful, and I really think you're going to enjoy it.
Today we have six winners (yes, I doubled the number) of a signed print copy of IF ONLY IN MY DREAMS. That's the new print collection of my five Christmas-themed novellas (all but one in print for the first time).
Our winners are: Ingrid Mini jcollyer Linda Nasuta booksandmore riverdaughter
Please drop me a line through my website contact page or Facebook or Goodreads with your snail mail address.
And if you didn't get a prezzie this time, don't despair. Santa's little elves have many more giveaways in mind this month.
Meanwhile, this morning's holiday treat is about twenty minutes of vintage B&W holiday shorts.
Tomorrow is the last day of the Advent Calendar. (Yes, it will be a coda.) Again, thank you for all your kindness and support during the year. There are so many books and so many authors out there; it's really humbling to be able to earn a living from my writing, especially when the latest data from the Author's Guild, Publisher's Weekly, etc. indicate that author earnings continue to wane.
The Advent Calendar is my way of saying thank you for buying my books. Thank you for reviewing and recommending them. Thank you for voting for the books in all these little contests and challenges and so forth. I hope you enjoyed this year's offerings -- both the books and the calendar!
Oh! And don't forget to check back on the earlier posts to see if you won something. We have several unclaimed prizes at the moment. ;-)
Today we have another vintage Christmas cartoon. Happy Holidays to you and yours!
Oops! I have a little bit of a head cold and so today's offering is a few hours late. But here it is -- a vintage Christmas cartoon for your viewing enjoyment.
