Cover Reveal: THE MOVIE-TOWN MURDERS

THE MOVIE-TOWN MURDERS, final book in the Art of Murder series, is now listed for preorders on Amazon--and only Amazon.

That doesn't mean the book will be launched in KU or anything like that. It means, I'm simply getting my ducks--i.e, my Amazon preorders--in line. The book is listed for June 2021, but I'm assuming it won't take me that long to write. Frankly, I'm terrified of missing any more deadlines, but preorders are kind of vital to my financial success, so this is my compromise.

I'm listing preorders (for now only on Amazon) at a reduced price, and pushing those release dates out a year. That gives me plenty of breathing space. I will be listing the books everywhere shortly, but it's not an urgency because I'm really not writing much at the moment. GULP. Maybe we take a second out on our house. Maybe I pull myself together in time. I just don't know. I don't like knowing. But hey. That's our life right now, right?

IT'S NOT JUST A JOB, IT'S AN ADVENTURE.

ENYWHOOO. The wonderful Johanna Ollila did the cover--she's done all but the first cover in the Art of Murder series--and I think it's gorgeous!

You can read more about the book here.

  1. I love the cover. And I just went to Amazon and preordered everything I hadn't already (Bell, Book and Scandal; Body at Buccaneer's Bay; Scandal at the Salty Dog; Mystery at the Masquerade; The 12.2-Per-Cent Solution; and The Movie-Town Murders).

Are pre-orders really that vital though? It seems to me you're sort of robbing Peter to pay Paul. I give you $3.99 now instead of $4.99 next May. You get money sooner, but (unless you're somehow earning a lot more interest than me) less money in the long run.

    1. That's true, but it gives me an idea of A - which books generate the most enthusiasm from readers (which is useful when I'm unsure about what I want to do next) and B - a rough idea of what I'm earning for the next 12 months, and finally C - an incentive for readers on other platforms to preorder since I'm now cycling books in and out of Kindle Unlimited, which means I'm always hearing readers complaining that everything isn't always wide. I'm trying to give them every possible chance to get the book without having to wait. ;-)

    2. Done it! Love the world that you have created in this series. Can't wait to read about Jason and Sam. They keep me company during my quarantine and I have developed a kind of bond with them.I hope that the book will be available soon! Addicted to your work, you are a great writer. Love from Italy.

    3. Thank you so much. It is going to be SO hard to say farewell to Sam and Jason. They have become two of my all time favorite characters.

  3. Aaw, I wish I could pre order all of your next books. But I only read physical books so I guess I will have to wait. But you can add a +1 for each of them ;)
I'm reading again all the Art of Murder series ATM and I wanted to thank you. As a European, I must admit that I know very little to nothing about American painters. So I went to check on Redmond Granville this morning and I just fell in love! Like head-over-heels-in-love. So thank you. All your books are beautifully written and incredibly entertaining to read and read all over again, but there's also always something to learn (and often more than one thing, especially about art which is quite recurent in your stories). Thank you for that. And good luck with finding your muse back; hopefully she will be realeased from the hospital soon. ;)

    1. Thank you so much, Almathea! Yes, art is a big theme in my work. I was thinking about that very thing just the other evening. The truth is, I would have loved to be a painter, but I just did not get any aptitude in that direction. Even my sketches look childlike. I took an art class with one of my sisters once, and it was HUMILIATING. :-D Because both my sisters inherited the family gift for art. They can draw, they can paint, they can probably sculpt. Also they can both sing harmony and I can't do that either. So WHAT THE HELL????

At least I can explore my love of art through my writing, so I do. ;-)

    2. Isn't it frustrating!?
I know, I'm the same. I can write okay (won a few writing constests but nerver dared going further), I used to be a good singer until I broke my voice and now I'm sounding like an old kettle but I always wanted to paint but I'm totally devoided of talent in that field. Like if I draw a smiley, people thinks it's a scarred potato... ><; Fortunately, I still have my acting, which is my way to express and my job. Well, when there's no pandemic. Obviously. ><; x2
For the silverlining, you're not just good at writing, you're awesome!
