  1. Dear Josh,

Don't be surprised. I cannot miss this opportunity to vote for one of your covers. :-)

Here's my choice for "What's Left of Kisses": #11

Thanks for letting us in on this.

    Yours, J.

  2. No 7 or No 1 or No. 9. I think they are best at giving the impression of "historical".

But whichever cover you choose I think it must have subtitle explaining what it is (Historical Novellas, Volume 1), and I think the covers which include that score higher as a result.

  3. My favorite is #7, like Helena I think it has the most "historical feeling"!
But I´m impressed with all the different offerings and the creative talents,
    Best wishes to you,
    Claudia/tanzmaeusi

  4. Hi, this time I'll vote #3. It has an old and mysterious air. Thanks for let us vote the covers, It's very funny.

  5. This is tough! Really great submissions....I pick #10 (followed by #9, 1)....

  6. #7 - i really like the letter in the background and it has that atmosphere of...lonely hope. The strolling guy could feel so much but we don't know and wonder about that. I look at it and want to know so much more.

  7. #7 or #11 I can't decide... I like the colours in both. They have a bit of a melancholic mood. I think in #7 the title is kind of picked up by the guy walking away (leaving...). In #11 the vintage feel is set by the old type writer and the according font. As I wrote I can't decide.

  8. I like the vintage feel of 7, 9, 10 and 11.

  9. Hello, my favorite is #3. All are very, very creative, but number three has a vintage and mysterious air that I like. Bye

  10. For me it's a tie between #10 & #14. Both of them just drew me in and #19 was also very visually appealing.

  11. Josh, I liked #14. It just pulled me in, in a way the other covers didn't. These things are always subjective and I really can't explain it more clearly than that. :)

  12. I think #16 is the best. It's got a handsome guy, obviously, but also feels both historical (for the right time period, I hope), and it has a painterly quality that I quite like.

  13. Don't know why, but on my list 1 & 7 are duplicates.

    1. penelope, I believe #1 and #7 are the same, except for a figure walking away in the distance in the middle if the frame

    2. Thank you Karan,

I kept switching back and forth and was getting rather confused as I ran up and down the page. Thanks to the other posters I finally figured out how to run them in the filmstrip mode. Much better.

      Again, thanks for the tip.

  14. Sorry my entry for this title didn't make the cut for it was my favorite. No matter.

These covers are truly superb and thanks to Josh for providing the opportunity to create and to choose.

    Here are my three favorites:

#11 - Love the use of color and the ancient typewriter gives a definite 30s-40s feel.

#14 - Moody and atmospheric. Lovely.

#3 - A really nice 30s-40s feel to this one as well.

  16. These are all great covers, wow! I love #11 and #7 best because of the colors and font.

  17. I like number 11 the most. Very clean and it evokes a sort of nostalgia that the history stories imply.

  18. Great work. My fave is #7, followed by #20

  19. I'm another fan of #7 or 20

  22. Excellent covers and hard to select just one but #3

  23. 1 or 3. I also like 11, but the others fit the description better.

  24. I really love #7 and #11, but those are the obvious ones (a sense of history) But I also like #15, because what IS left by kisses? This cover shows mystery, something dark, something empty... Maybe that's what a kiss leaves you with.

  25. Hi, my favorite is number 4

  26. No 11. Love that glowing, red colour.

  27. Mi voto es para la portada número 3. Es muy vintage.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I like #20 or #21. Since the stories will go from WWI to WWII, I think it covers the most. I also like the black and white is more representational.

  29. la numero 3
todas son geniales, solo que la 3 me trasmitió algo cálido y reconfortante, gracias.

  30. #11, as it catches the eye with the color choice, and the antique typewriter helps with mood. Nice and simple. My second choice would be either #20 or #21, but with a different font for the title, as the sepia tone and war-era images seem to portray the contents of the stories they are supposed to represent.

  38. I have a feeling I keep choosing the same artist in all cover contests :-)

So #7 and then #11 here.

  39. 20 & 21 are the same, correct? I quite like them but your name gets lost over the typewriter keys so I am voting for 18.

  40. I'm voting for #11

  41. Fina. me gusta el # 3

  42. I love #11. It's eye-catching and atmospheric.

  43. I like #7 or #1 for a historic feel. Also like #14 because it seemed to draw me in, though it lacks the historic feel -

  44. I do like #5, but #11 just seems more appropriate.

  45. I choose #3
    Good Luck to everyone!!

  46. #11 draws the eye. But I also really like the concept and mood of #16.

  47. I vote for #7. Lovely use of colours.

  48. Mi voto es para el número 3. Gracias.

  49. Hola, mi voto es para la nº 3.Gracias

  50. My vote goes to number 5 ... It perfectly depicts how memories becomes smoothly blurry till you cannot remember how they really were. Second best would be number 14. Just looking at it makes me feel longing for something gone.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I like #3 best, then #7 & #17.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I really like 11. I think it fits the theme best.

  53. In order of preference:

#7 (the mellow colour palette blends well with the words in the title, and it does suggest a period setting)

#10 (this one suggest a period setting too, and it has a lovely composition, but it slightly clashes with the words in the title, esp the "kisses" part!)

#14 (this one is lovely, but not particularly suited for a historical novella collection. I would save it for another novel or novella, maybe a standalone, and preferably in a contemporary context or with supernatural elements?)

  54. I like number 11best.

  55. Hola, buenas noches mi voto para # 3.
    Besosssssssssss.

  56. #18 is the closest to the two stories that it represents. Although it's too bad that the dude has a goatee. #20 is even better, unfortunately, it is too busy and the your name disappears in this black and white. What would have been better is cut the two guy in the shadow in the background of #18. Remove everything behind the hand on the typewriter keys on #20 and inserted the two guys from #18 into the background of # 20. Shrink the hand on keys so that there is space for your name to stand alone and not disappeared on top of the image. Anyway, that's not gonna happen so #18.
