The Best Laid Plans

Unfortunately between the flu and the holiday -- and then the recovery from the flu and the holiday -- I ended up unable to do quite as many of the Christmas Codas as I'd intended.

However, I've been persuaded to collect and publish this batch for next year, so I'll probably add to what I did write with the others that I planned but didn't have time for.

Meanwhile, I'm very pleased my little gift went over so well. I appreciate all the very kind comments and compliments. I'm happy I could add to your enjoyment of the season.

There will be one final coda tomorrow morning.

Thank you for a wonderful 2012 -- and wishing you all a healthy and happy New Year!

  1. Thank you so much, Josh. I know this took up more time than you originally thought it would. And I know you pushed because we enjoyed it so much. I loved what we got. It really was like a little holiday party with old friends. I loved visiting with them. You probably already know this, but you rock!

  8. Josh, you're a rock star. Thank you so, so much. I am new to the m/m genre -- I have been reading these novels for just over one year -- but your voice is one of the primary voices that has kept me coming back. The codas simply reinforced that very good decision! I'm sorry that you weren't able to do as much as you wanted to do, but I'm so incredibly grateful that you were able to do as much as you did. I'm also grateful that you interact with your fans as much as you do. I absolutely adore the fact that I get to interact with one of my favorite authors in such a personal way. Get better soon. I look forward to tomorrow. I openly admit that I'll cry a little bit if tomorrow isn't Adrien and Jake, lol! But I'll ultimately be thankful to you because -- with these codas -- you have demonstrated a real understanding of your fans. You get that we embrace these worlds that you create, and that we fall in love with these characters who are nothing more than bits and pieces of constructed fantasies that occupy space inside your head and that you ultimately commit to paper. Not only do you get it, but you empathize with it, and in writing these codas, you gave us one last peek into their worlds. It was generous, kind, and so much more than we had any right to expect. So even if tomorrow isn't Adrien and Jake, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. And happy new year to you. :-)

  9. Even if the codas are not as many as you hoped in the beginning, you have been giving your fans an amazing gift at the end of this year. I will look forward for the last codas. I hope you get better soon. And Happy New Year 2013 to you.

  12. Each one, no matter how large or small made me revisit each story and reminded me what I loved about them. It also reminded me how much I love your work. I really wish you better health for the new year.

I am grateful for every story you can get to us, but hope you can do it in a happy and healthy way that you can enjoy as much as we do.

    Thank you.

  14. That great picture of the gingerbread man in the hot chocolate bath reminds me of you, Josh! LOL. He looks very happy and relaxed. And those are the things I wish you for the year 2013. :)

I'm so glad to hear you are planning to collect and publish these codas for the next year. I'd love to see them published and have the opportunity to hold that book in my hands. All your codas have their unique, lovely atmosphere — they'll make a wonderful book together. And a perfect comfort read. :)
