Good morning! Happy Monday!
A couple of years ago, the SO and I stumbled across this quirky little 1940s PI Christmas movie. It's actually quite difficult to find satisfying mystery movies set during the holidays. They're either too sachrine-sweet or they go over the top and blow the hell out of the holidays.
Cover Up strikes a nice balance of suspense, romance and holiday charm. It's perfect for when you're not quite ready for It's a Wonderful Life or burn out enough for Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.
Thanks! I love these kinds of movies and I don't think I ever would have found it. But I have to disagree on the perfect Christmas movie. Die Hard. But only the first one.
ReplyDeleteWell, I guess I know what I'll be watching this evening.
ReplyDeleteOk, watched it last night and wow times have changed!
ReplyDeleteBut the housekeeper! Loved her! You have to put her in one of your books!
Oooh I know what I'm doing tomorrow! I've got a good old movie to watch <3
ReplyDeleteFinally found the time to watch. Goodness, so many anachronisms! Smoking (sadly the star, Dennis O'Keefe, died of lung cancer), driving without seatbelts and an adult woman asking her parents for permission to go to the movies. Still pretty good for a 75 year-old film. And it does have a darn good tagline:
ReplyDelete"It takes more than a kiss to Cover Up a killing!"
