I was listening to I Spy Something Bloody while planting tulips today and couldn't have enjoyed the book more. I love Alexander's Mark, but also his Stephen, Bryce and Old Man.

I've always loved Mark and Stephen's story, but I think Alexander's narration adds some delicious spice to it. For example the scene in chapter 3 where Mark meets Bryce the first time — I thought Alexander did a wonderful job with it. The frightfully unsuspecting behavior and tone of Bryce, the predatory, ominous calculation of Mark and Stephen's painful awareness of them both.

Anyway, I don't even know how many times I've read I Spy Something Bloody (it was the second Josh Lanyon book I ever read), but I never grow tired of it. I love the dynamics between these men and I love them also individually (even Mark *grin*). I really enjoyed the insight into making the characters "sing" (or moan, as the case may be) and how the process develops. I think Alexander is far too hard on himself about the accents because I think he's done a brilliant job! I was actually thinking about that as I listened on my way home from work because the Old Man and his Irish accent were added, and handled brilliantly! Wonderful choice, Josh, for a wonderful story.Denisenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1411894864312049426.post-49640056575629061022013-10-04T15:24:39.339-07:002013-10-04T15:24:39.339-07:00LOLLOLJosh Lanyonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11944091956589831656noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1411894864312049426.post-16628248015547578132013-10-04T14:45:28.267-07:002013-10-04T14:45:28.267-07:00Nice to read this as I'm currently listening t...Nice to read this as I'm currently listening to In From the Cold--it's the first of your audiobooks I have tried.
